A few weeks ago I noticed irregular play in my steering....All steering components were changed in the off season but the pump and box/ragjoint......
Well the pump died on the way home from Syracuse (My usual cursed trip home usually has at least one event)
I noticed play in the rag joint so tore it apart and sure enough the rubber was just about tore right through....
Lucky for me I had one of those "HELP" repair kits in stock....I ground the pins out and proceeded to rebuild it with the HELP kit....
I was simply NOT feeling the love as these kits only come with one normal size safety pin and one smaller one....
This prompted the calls to find a new replacement rag joint (Steering coupler).
Well as luck would have it nobody in the valley stocks it or can even order it.
Only source is the usual suspects:; Ground Up, Year One, Tamaraz, etc......or are they really the only source....
I woke up the next morning and it hit me like a bulldozer.....EARLY BIRD RESTORATION....
Why do I keep forgetting about these folks...they have bailed me out several times over the years....
I was busy at work so Jodie took over the task....She got the joint delivered to the door for $60 CAN
The best deal we could get from the US sources were in the $49 to $60 US range plus shipping plus UPS store $5 fee, plus gas and toll bridge fee to go fetch it....not to mention the extra few day delay to get it to the UPS store and then get my butt to the store.....
In any event I figure Early Bird Restoration saved me about $30 plus lots of time.....Woot Woot!!!!!
If ya ever need factory parts (non performance stuff) such as inner fenders any body panels, mechanical parts such as tie rods, centre links, etc etc......Give these guys a shout....there prices are awesome....They saved me about $75 on my inner fenders about 5 years ago too.....
