Has anyone used Delo Diesel oil by Chevron? It is on sale at Walmart US for 11.28 US. RotellaT is 13/ gal. Both are 15-40.
Cosco has Delo 3 gal for 32.99.

Non roller cams need the high zinc oil. Don't cheap out on oil.

if your not running a diesel engine...LOL...just use brand pen with zinc, or royal purple and add zinc...My 2 cents
roller cam I would not mess with it and go by specs recommended by engine builders.

The 15w40 is pretty much perfect for our Chevy SBC and BBC engines which are primarily running during the warmest times of our cruise season. The BradPenn oil is great but there's nothing wrong with the Rotella-T either. Several of us us it.

Oils and engine building has changed much since the 60s. Old oils were mostly mineral had few additives newer oil are refined multiple times and have very specific additives ensuring better resistance to higher temperatures even at thinner viscosty. Old school engine builders used looser tolerances to ensure enough oil coverage.
Who remembers going to a car show in Montreal or Kingston and needing to bring a quart to top-up before the return trip on our old engine builds.
A 2016 Corvette or Hellcat will give 650-700 HP & 650 FtLbs & 6500rpm on 0W40 oils oils with little or no oil consumption. Diesel oils have much more detergents than gas engine oils ( caution)
