I guess it is long overdue for an update on the Terrorplane project. The car has been at the paint shop for the last six weeks and now the shell is ready for color sanding and buffing. As soon as the shell is finished the remaining parts will get a dose of the Caviar Black Cherry and 3 coats of clear and the reassembly will start. It will be finished complete with a new tan leather interior by May 1 start of the 2016 season.

Wow! Looking great Doug. I'll bet that didn't come cheap. Can't wait to see it. You know what they say " You get what you pay for" I am looking forward to the day when this project is finished.....been dumping money into it for 6 years, so now it is time to enjoy it. It was June 23 2010 when Peter and I trailered it in to Hazeldean cruise night.

Doug, I am very impressed how you put in "Dyno Mat" sound and heat insulator through out the entire interior of the car. Very good idea. It sure makes a difference for many reasons. I have it on my floor and fire wall in the old Poncho, but always thought of doing the doors and roof. When I get to it someday.

Re: Dynomat
Lookup ICON4x4 .. they take old Bornco, FJ, LandRover (and others) bodies, put them on new frames with modern suspensions and drivetrains....
Can't remember if it was a the site or a YouTube video, but the owner said they use up to 5 layers of Dynamat to make their trucks really quiet.

Good Stuff. Hey Doug, all you need now is some "IR" or "ITO" as we call it window film to keep your ride nice and cool inside...in fact Everybody needs it...LOL...sorry plugging my business products. This is not your regular crappy tint job. Special nano technology and safety / security film to boot. Just new out this past year...it has a very light blue tinge to it, but you really cannot notice once it's on your windows. Car, Truck, Van etc., or your house. Optical clarity 360 degree view even on curved windows. You can laminate the front window too. I will have it on my Strato Chief this summer, so you can all check it out. Increases the interior coolness to 83%, bottom line it's awesome. 5 years in development by people way smarter than I.

I have it on my floor and fire wall in the old Poncho, but always thought of doing the doors and roof. When I get to it someday. It was not too difficult when the entire car was just a shell. I still have to finish it up in the trunk area before the upholstery is finished in April. With the Dyno Mat and the addition of the upholstery it will definitely be much cooler and quieter. I should be able to get the rest done before it leaves the restoration shop as there is a lot of work to do putting it back together.
Went to see it yesterday and the colour sanding and buffing of the shell was finished. needles to say, it is as smooth as glass! Interior will be done in a beige/Tan ultra leather which should be a nice contrast to the Black Cherry!

Exciting isn't it? when I was rebuilding the Poncho, I could barely sleep some nights, always thinking about the CAR...LOL
